Ways to Give

Giving today for tomorrow…

While making a charitable gift can seem complicated and overwhelming, we at the Alive in Hope Foundation are here to work with you to handle issues professionally, and allow you to experience the joy and satisfaction of fulfilling your charitable objectives.

The Foundation’s staff can explain how our giving programs can directly benefit you, your family, and others. We are available to review all appropriate options to help you:

  • Clearly define your charitable objectives.
  • Suggest charitable vehicle(s) that will help you achieve your philanthropic goals.

Depending on the vehicle you choose, your gift may provide you with some or all of the following benefits:

  • Income tax deductions for the current and/or future year(s)
  • Avoidance or elimination of capital gains on appreciated property
  • A steady stream of annual income, some of which may be tax-free
  • Reduction of estate taxes, allowing you to maximize your estate

The following section describes some of the ways you can give while considering your financial and personal circumstances:

Bequests
Bequests are one of the most straightforward and effortless ways to give. Bequests can be general or highly specific in nature. Loved ones also can be remembered with a memorial or honorary bequest.

Charitable Gift Annuities
Donors can give a charitable gift annuity and receive fixed-annuity payments for life. Gifts can be put to work today while yielding future tax advantages and other benefits.

Charitable Remainder Trusts
Donors sometimes find that charitable remainder trusts, when considered in the right circumstances, can help boost their income, reduce taxes, unlock mature investments and lessen investment anxieties. They are a great way to support diocesan services and ministries.

Memorials and Endowments
Some contributors choose to give gifts in their names or in the names of loved ones. In addition to supporting people throughout the diocese, memorials and endowments can provide practical tax benefits for donors. It also establishes a legacy of love that sustains the spirit and gratitude of the donor while impacting the life of the Church and God’s people.

Donor-Advised Funds
Benefactors can select the option of a donor-advised fund to gain access to the giving power of private foundations. These options may allow them to avoid many complex scenarios and expenses. Donor-advised are increasingly popular for donors who wish to remain involved in advising the use of their gifts. They are also a less-expensive alternative to establishing private foundations.

Pooled Income Funds
Pooled income funds allow donors to work in partnership with others in generating additional income today that can be used to supplement retirement income tomorrow. Pooled income funds also reduce income tax.

Charitable Lead Trusts
Supporters of the diocese may elect to put charitable lead trusts to work for their favorite cause. These trusts also trim tax costs for future heirs.
